D.C.'s Original Food Truck Festival Returns May 5 to RFK Stadium Festival Grounds
WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Events DC and the Washington, DC Food Trucks Association (DCFTA) today announced the return of the District's original food truck festival - to be bigger and better than ever in 2012. The Curbside Cookoff: Trucko De Mayo will be held on Saturday, May 5 from Noon through 9 p.m. on the RFK Stadium Festival Grounds (Lot 3).
"Hosting the Curbside Cookoff on the RFK Stadium Festival Grounds allows us to showcase the largest number of food trucks, giving attendees the greatest number of food options in event history," said Erik A.
Moses, managing director of the Events DC Sports and Entertainment Division. "In addition to good food and entertainment, attendees can enjoy the festival-atmosphere and camaraderie throughout the day."
"Featuring free admission, free parking, live music, two bars - and over 35 food trucks - this is going to be the region's largest and best food truck festival," added Patrick Rathbone, the event's organizer and owner-operator the Big Cheese food truck. "Curbside Cookoff brings back DC's original food truck festival in a much larger, exciting format."
The Saturday event is an exciting opportunity for food truck regulars to visit all of their favorites in one place and for fans outside the District to come to RFK Stadium and experience the food truck community.
Curbside Cookoff is a production of Centerplate, Events DC and the DCFTA. The first Curbside Cookoff was held in 2010 and organized by the Washington, DC Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs.
"The DCFTA is proud to be the organizers of Curbside Cookoff and to return this festival to the community," said Che Ruddell-Tabisola, DCFTA Executive Director and Co-Owner of the BBQ Bus. "By bringing together
so many great food trucks at a venue such as RFK, we know that Curbside Cookoff is going to become the region's premier food truck festival."
The RFK Stadium Festival Grounds are easily accessible by Metrorail on the Blue and Orange lines (Stadium-Armory station) and numerous bus lines. Free parking is also available in Lots 4 and 5.
